The tour takes you to the highlands of the country rises from 3000 ft to over 8000 ft from the hill capital of Kandy into mist-covered forested mountains, sparkling streams and gorgeous waterfalls and tea plantation to reach Nuwaraeliya, the country’s main hill resort. The approach by road or rail to the spectacular hill country is a highly enjoyable experience. Blessed with cool climes, Kandy and Nuwaraeliya represents medieval culture and colonial architecture respectively.
Our representatives will meet and greet you upon your arrival at the airport. You will then be transferred to Kandy located in the central highlands.
Today you will visit the Temple of The Tooth, the sacred location where the tooth relic of Lord Buddha is kept. You will attend a morning ceremony at the temple. At the conclusion of the ceremony embarking on a city tour of Kandy. You will also be taken to visit a bazaar, an arts and craft center, a gem museum and lapidary where you may indulge in some shopping after which you will leave for the Pinnawala elephant orphanage a sanctuary for orphaned elephants, located in a vast span of lush greenery. Here you will be given an opportunity to feed the elephants during the feeding times. You will then be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Kandy.
Today you will be taken to the most beautiful botanical garden in the island, the Peradenaiya botanical gardens. It is renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. The garden consists of more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Having concluded your visit to the botanical gardens, you will leave for Nuwara-Eliya. Groups will have the option of journeying aboard the Viceroy Special from Kandy to the Nanuoya station in Nuwara-Eliya. Transfer to your hotel in Nuwara-Eliya and spend your night there.
Today you will leave for the islands capital of Colombo and join a midday city tour of Colombo; which will give you a glimpse of Colombo’s architecture, art and culture. You will be brought back to your hotel at the conclusion of your city tour where you will spend the night. Groups will have the option of journeying aboard the Viceroy Special from the Nanuoya station in Nuwara-Eliya to Colombo. You will be transferred to your hotel after the city tour for an overnight stay.
